How I got into games

 Intro

Hi, my name is Richard Titus and I am the founder and president of Flame Dragon Games.  I started this business 2 years ago when I was developing a game in my spare time.  I had finished about 1/4 of the game and turned it into a demo because it was taking so long to make and figured that I would stop at just a demo.  After I had family and friends try it out and got a lot of positive feedback from them I had an idea:

"Why not make a full length version and use it as a launch to start my own company?"

So I went back into development and had the game near completion which is when I started making this website.  That game was Shattered Glass.

 Hobbies

I have many hobbies which I occupy myself with to pass time or just have fun.  Obviously, I enjoy playing video games.  I have been playing video games since I was very young on my NES.  I also enjoy hanging out with friends at the park and playing field hockey.  I like reading novels, usually invoving some mystery or thriller.  My favourite authors are Steven King and Agitha Christie.  My favourite novel is "And then there were none".  My most enjoyable hobby, however, is writing and developing video games for people to play.  I love seeing how the game spans out and finding as well as fixing bugs although there is no such thing as a bug free game.

How I Got Into Games

I took an interest in gaming at a young age.  Im not exactly sure when but the first game I remember playing is Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda for the NES when they first came out.  I played it with my mom and dad but my sister was a little young to really have any interest in it.  I always dreamed of being a scientist when I was young because I was fascinated with space and time.  When Ocarina of Time came out for the Nintendo 64, I was intrigued by the level design and enemy movements and how "smart" the AI seemed to be.  It was then that I took interest in the "behind the scenes" effort that went into making the games.  First of all, It is already a challenge to assemble a team, brainstorm, write a game script, establish a flawless storyline, etcetra, etcetra, etcetra.  But it is also even more of a challenge to do all that yourself.  Although it does help when the graphics are already created and it isn't a 3D game, but it's still a challenge none the less.  Anyways, I found a program called RM2k and experimented with it by trying different things and making little tid bits of games here and there.  It was when RM2k3 was released that I thought I'd start to design a full length game and see where it went from there.

I started writing a rough game script and finding as well as editing sprites and chipsets.  After I had collected all of my needed resources I started designing the game.  After about 1/4 of the way done, I realized it would take a lot more time and effort to finish the game so I decided to make it into a 10-20 minute demo to just have fun with.  I let my friends and family test it out.  After finding out that it took them over 2 hours to complete the demo and getting only positive feedback from them, I decided to attempt to complete the game.

It's been about two years since I began developing my launch game and I am almost complete.  Future titles shouldn't take as long to design because I am much more experienced and more committed than when I first began.  I wanted this game to be complete with no loose ends and debugged it many times.  I wanted it to be original and massive with unique puzzles and challenged to overcome.  I hope you all enjoy my launch title, Shattered Glass and any future games that we develop.
